Laser Measuring Device

Are you looking for a laser measuring device?  Choosing a distance measurer is a lot like choosing a computer.  You need to know what you are going to use it for, and if you’re going to use it inside or outside.  What is the maximum distance you need it for?  There are a lot of questions to answer before starting your search.  Here are a few things to think about before finding the device for you.

There are many jobs you may need to use this laser measuring device for.  You need to choose a device that is accurate up to the maximum length you will be measuring. You don’t want to spend the money on one that is not going to provide you the service you are going to need in the future. You need to know if you’re going to be using it in the sunlight so you can get a screen you can see.  Also, there are some that can be used with a computer and have your measurements posted right to the computer with Bluetooth. Understanding your needs and knowing what is out there is the first step in finding your perfect device.

There are many different specifications for laser measuring devices.  First you need to look at the range.  Range can be stated as feet or meters and is the maximum distance the device will measure under excellent circumstances to a target.  Most ranges are between 100 feet and 600 feet.  Some models cannot measure but 50 feet without a reflective target while some can measure up to 300 feet without a reflective target.

Next you need to look at accuracy of a laser measuring device.  This specification is the maximum amount of fluctuation that the measurement can have to the actual measurement.  Most laser devices are accurate between +/- 1/8 inch and +/- 1/16 inch.

The last specification for a laser measuring device that you need to consider is size.  The older, less expensive units are usually larger and heavier.  The newer devices can fit in a shirt pocket.  It’s all in where you need to carry it, in a pocket or attached to a belt loop.

There are many things to consider before purchasing a laser measuring device.  You need to know exactly what you need before making your final decision.  It is important to get what you need the first time so you’re not out money for the second.
